In the stands of White Hart Lane you will hear the familiar lines being shouted at the spurs team this season from the Spurs faithful – ‘Don`t fall back’, ‘Push up Spurs’, ‘Where are the defence’?
There is no doubt that our defence have suffered a number of give a ways to opposition teams. There is now an opportunity during the international break for the defence to be doing extra training on back to basics.
We know that Dawson, Kaboul, Chimbonda, Lee, are class players on their day. Dawson was a towering beacon last season heading every ball away and throwing himself in front of every shot at our goal and the same is expected this season from him and new signing Kaboul.
But some of the errors that have happened are surely just down to lack of communication and simply not being in the right place at the right time.
Jol and Houghton should take the defence back to basics during this international break and establish a back four leader with who will command and demand a back line that won`t leak like a sieve.
Granted we are all awaiting the return of King but till then we need to stop the goals against us because we have proved we can score goals!
