Kane’s Game

How good is Kane? After the Leicester game, the tongues are wagging in the press and on the TV and radio. His performances lately have been good but against the Foxes he claimed the Golden Boot – as good as. Coming from 2 behind Lukaku to being 2 ahead of him in one game, he seemed to turn up the heat to another level.

I think this guy, who during some of the game looks unlikely to score and then bangs it into the net from all sorts of angles is perhaps better than we all think. From thumping it in across the box through a forest of defenders to a deft flying touch in with defenders pulling him about, the guy’s brilliant. We’ve seen him at the start of some seasons looking like he’s going to flop, a late and slow starter and then goes on to be top scorer, not to mention that he’s been injured and out of scoring range for months but STILL he goes on to get the Golden Boot. AND GOOD FOR HIM, all the best to him from this end. Brilliant.

I haven’t done a survey of all the top scorers and looked at how many have had lots of time off but to come back from Kane’s level of injuries and still be top scorer in the league, a very tough league, Mr Kane MUST be somewhere near top in the world.

Has he got top pace? Not seemingly, he doesn’t look really like a sprinter, yet he gets back to defend when needed so must be fit and still gets to where he needs to be at the other end, to knock it in. He’s tough, aggressive enough to fight off a couple of couple of defenders on occasions and has a rare gift of wheedling his way through tough circumstances. There’s almost a clumsiness to his game but he’s not really clumsy, he just doesn’t have a stylishly delicate manner, just raw ability.

If we get to the natural question that most follow up any remarks about him, we ask, ‘SO what’s he worth?’ And then, ‘Will he stay with us?’ Can we afford to keep him? And will he want to stay, would he give his loyalty to this club and this manager? Bale didn’t.

For what it’s worth, I think he likes Spurs and Pochettino, well who wouldn’t? But I DO think he’ll commit to this club long term. He doesn’t seem like a guy who’s full of himself, he seems a quiet bloke. I don’t see him as someone who is going to chase fame, rather to play down what he does. I think Kane will commit to the club that put him in the spotlight especially with all that we have and what`s emerging in the near future.

I HOPE WE KEEP HIM FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER. How about you?
