Kane Restates Tottenham Promise Over His Future & I See It As Good News

|

Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane has been an easy go-to for the pundits once again this season when it comes to speculating about his future and the lack of silverware at White Hart Lane (via Wembley).

Although the 25-year-old isn’t as hot a property on the rumour mill as Christian Eriksen or Toby Alderweireld, he’s certainly featured and with the first test event at the new stadium now behind us and most pretty much in awe at the rebuild, the common debate is now will we further tighten our belts owing to the debt, or with the stadium largely taking care of itself, we will now open up spending to take us to the next level and start filling our new trophy cabinet.

Given the Kane speculation when it comes to winning things and better competing for trophies, he was interviewed recently by ESPN following the March international break, and his message was short, sweet and to the point.

“I’ve always said as long as the club is moving in the right direction and showing the right ambition, I want to be part of the journey. It’s something you assess along the way. A lot of people look at it and say this is maybe the best team we’ve had, maybe the best team we’ll ever have, and the best manager, but it’s important that we have something to show for it. It’s not just, when we look back in 10 years, we had a great team. It’s, ‘Look what they did. Look what they won.’ The challenge for us is, can we keep going up and up and up? It’s going to be difficult in the next couple of years with the stadium and the finances.”

With pundits regularly questioning what he wants from life when it comes to medals or being a one club legend, Kane again appears to have his head screwed on right in terms of his priorities. Fans will certainly welcome his words again and whilst it doesn’t necessarily dictate his future, it at least implies he is perfectly happy with how things are.
