“It’s About The Mentality” – Spurs Man Remains Confident Ahead Of City Clash

|

Tottenham Hotspur skipper Hugo Lloris has promised that the players are ready to ‘suffer’ in the Champions League quarter-final second leg later this evening when we make the trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City.

We have a narrow first leg advantage over Pep Guardiola’s side from the White Hart Lane affair where Son Hueng-Min gave us the one goal lead, but there’s every reason for confidence given our overall performance, even if people accept we rode our luck early on with Sergio Aguero’s penalty save.

Speaking to Sky Sports during the build-up to the game this week, Lloris promised the fans that they would dig in and battle for the second 90 minutes, because he knows if we bide our time and frustrate them, we are more than capable of taking our chances when they come along.

“It is all about the mentality, the spirit, to have the same idea of football together. Then of course we are ready to suffer because Wednesday we are going to suffer, but we know we can make the game difficult for them too. It is just about enjoying being at this stage of the competition, being ready to compete. Momentum is very important.”

You certainly wouldn’t expect Lloris to say anything else ahead of the game, as our advantage is narrow but having comfortably dispatched Huddersfield, with some still doubting our ‘big game credentials’ this match could carry the perfect answer.

The prize up for grabs for progression would be massive to the club.
