Tottenham have confirmed that Tom Huddlestone has signed a new 5 year deal with the club, ending any speculation that he will be sold this summer.
Huddlestone has been linked with moves to Aston Villa, Blackburn, Newcastle and Everton in recent weeks, so this signing is great news as far as I’m concerned.
To Huddlestone’s credit he has obviously worked hard in his fitness in the 2nd half of last season, which must have impressed Ramos, that he was prepared to knuckle down and fight for his Spurs future.
I am really hoping for a huge improvement in Huddlestone next season, this is perhaps the first season in his professional career when he will be really fit, he has always looked too chunky and immobile, but recent pictures show a much slimmer physique.
Though Tom will never be a greyhound his weight loss and improved fitness must help his speed, stamina and mobility, which has always been lacking in his game.
The interesting thing now will be to see whether Ramos see’s Hudd as a main feature in the first team next season and will he look to use him in the defensive midfield role rather than spend big on someone else..
