Martin Jol is still confident that Spurs can still grab fourth spot and qualify for the Champions League – as long as the Gunners don’t win the competition obviously, because that would mean only the top three in the league would qualify.

Anyway, despite our awful recent run, Jol is still being positive.

‘I still believe if we win four or five games out of the last nine we’ll be fine. Now we’re in fourth position we’re going for it.’

At the end of the day, we might only be 2 points above Arsenal, with Bolton and Blackburn also chasing, but they would all swap their positions for ours, we are still in the driving seat, we just have to make sure we don’t come off the road completely. A win against Birmingham tomorrow would be a great way to bounce back.

Jol said when asked if it was easier to play teams who are lower in the league: ‘It’s a big fight every week. It’s never easy’.

He also admits that the last minute mistakes have been costly and that Spurs didn’t give up points last season when we were in front.

Adding ‘We’re still fourth in the league and nobody would have predicted that at the start of the season so there are still a lot of positive things.’

Before predicting an ‘exciting’ end to the season with just nine games to clinch the Champions League spot.

Hold on to your hats, it could be a bumpy ride.
