As we start the pre season without the International players, its a perfect opportunity for the rest of the squad to make an impression on the manager, but also for him to assess whether these players are good enough.
In two pre season games against Championship XI`s, the results matter little, but its the performances of those players who may have something to prove to the coaching staff, that is key.
We hear talk that Clinton N`Jie is a possible departure, though whether this is due to the manager not rating him high;y enough or that the player himself isn`t settled in England?Spurs, its anyones guess.
Others such as Carroll, Mason, Bentaleb and Pritchard may well be playing for their Tottenham futures, but equally, we know that Pochettino is open minded though to give players second chances, based on their effort, attitude and performance.
Similarly, we can see someone like Nacer Chadli or Dominic Ball wanting to feel part of the managers plans and that they have a genuine chance of starting enough games to keep them motivated and involved.
We also have young players such as Shayon Harrison and Cameron Carter-Vickers, that will see an opportunity to get much greater involvement, even if that is as as third/fourth choice striker or 5th choice centre half, with the bench being seen as promotion, not exclusion.
We have heard several Spurs players stating that Poch starts the pre season with a clean slate and several players will be hopeful that thats the case…
