“He’s a real leader” – Levy gifted chance to sign “outstanding” 60-cap international

|

According to a report from the Sun, Tottenham have been ‘offered‘ the chance to sign ex-Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey this summer as current club Juventus ponder offloading him in order to save money.

The recent pandemic has put Juve’s finances into question and Ramsey’s reported £400,000-per-week wages are proving to be a drain on funds – so much so that the Old Lady are considering any bids for his signature.

As a result, Spurs have now been gifted the chance to sign Ramsey on a potential loan agreement – with fellow Premier League clubs Man City and Man United also touted to make a swoop.

Would you take Ramsey at Spurs?

No chance, ex-Gunner

Yes, quality player

According to Transfermarkt, before departing bitter rivals Arsenal, the 60-cap international made 371 appearances for our cross-town rivals – scoring 65 goals and assisting 65 others.

This is a clear indication that the 29-year-old has what it takes to succeed in the English top flight, and given our need for a creative midfield player as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, this could be clever business.

However, even though a potential loan agreement has been mentioned, there could still be a roadblock in the form of his lofty salary – with Tottenham’s current financial predicament potentially being a deciding factor.

As per the Athletic, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy borrowed £175 million through the Bank of England to cover losses brought upon by recent events – reducing our transfer plans to loan deals, bargain hunts and free agents.

Described as ‘outstanding’ and a ‘real leader’ by Martin Keown last season in a BT Sport interview via the Daily Mail, it’s clear Ramsey has pedigree, but whether or not Levy will opt to pursue him is a different matter.
