Many would argue that it does not take much for Darren Bent to portray himself as a figure of fun, but his latest escapade, if believed, really does take the biscuit.
We can all understand Bent’s pent-up anger at being dragged off the plane for China at the last moment believing he was heading for the North East only to still find himself in limbo land(hell, we are all frustrated about that!), but to air his true feelings in public via his Twitter social networking page was not one of the brightest ideas, was it Darren!?
The transcript allegedly reads:-
‘Do I want to join Hull City? NO. Do I want to join Stoke? NO. Do I want to join Sunderland? YES. So stop ****ing around Levy. I am ****** off and need to do something.’
‘Sunderland are not the problem in the slightest. Why can’t anything be simple? It is so frustrating hanging around and doing nothing while they sort the confusion out. I’m getting seriously ****** off now.’
‘As soon as I have news I’ll let people know.This is the longest day in the world because I can’t wait to get started.’
It has apparently been confirmed that the rant is genuinely from one of Bent’s own Twitter accounts.Daniel Levy could sadistically turn the screw even more now by making him wait even longer while he attempts to up the ante for Bent from the £12m on offer to £14m from the Stadium of Light purse strings.
The matter is sure to be dealt with internally and ironically end up with Darren having to put his hand in his pocket which might be seen as helping to fund his own transfer fee.
