Paul Robinson has received the support of England’s third choice goalkeeper Ben Foster.

England’s number one, Robbo suffered a barrage of media abuse for his part in Croatia’s freak goal in their 2-0 Euro 2008 qualifier win in Zagreb but Foster who is on loan at Watford believes that the Spurs keeper is the best in the country.

Foster is behind Paul Robinson and Chris Kirkland in the national side and should be in the squad which face Holland on November 15. He told www.thefa.com: ‘If I get my chance in the next game then brilliant, but I’m not going to be too disappointed if it doesn’t happen.

‘I’d like to think I won’t get my England chance just because of what happened to Paul – that could have happened to anyone.

‘I thought Paul was our best player in that game and I don’t think he could do anything about that incident. I spoke to him after the game and told him he was different class.

‘Paul is a great goalkeeper. He is number one and I’m number three at the moment and I can accept that because he has been doing well.’
