Fabrizio Romano gives his verdict on Brazilian’s future

|

Today, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on the uncertainty surrounding Lucas Moura’s Tottenham career. Via his Twitter he confirmed that there are no talks between São Paulo and Tottenham for Lucas Moura, as things stand.

This has rubbished previous reports from the Sun, that had stated that the winger was in talks with the Brazilian giants.

This January, Moura will reach his five year anniversary at Spurs, after joining from PSG back in 2018.

The Brazilian’s deal at Spurs is now set to expire at the of the season and Fabrizio Romano expects he will stay till the summer and then leave as a free agent.

Despite being a fan favourite since his Amsterdam heroics, the winger will now most likely not be a miss if he was to leave.

The 30-year-old’s powers have clearly waned, with the forward’s last goal coming way back in December 2021 (via Transfermarkt).

His lack of goals and assists has seen his minutes slashed in recent months, as despite making 34 league appearances last season Moura only averaged 20 minutes of action per game, mainly appearing from the bench. This trend has continued this season, with him only racking up 90 minutes of league football so far (via Transfermarkt).

A move back to his childhood club would the perfect end to his time at Tottenham and it would give the club the option to give more minutes to other younger stars.
