Etete joins Cardiff

|

Not-so-young youth team striker Kion Etete has joined Championship side Cardiff City on a permanent deal for a fee in the region of half a million pounds. Twenty year-old Etete lands in Cardiff following a couple of successful loan spells last season, the first of which coming at League Two’s Northampton Town, scoring six goals in twenty-three appearances, before stepping up to League One’s Cheltenham Town in the latter half of the season, where he scored thrice in thirteen matches.

Having taken the third step up the EFL ladder in linking up with Steve Morison’s side, the ex-Norwich and Millwall striker had this to say on his team’s new recruit:

I’m very happy. He’s an investment for the Club, and he’s got all the attributes to be a top striker.

“He’s strong, he’s quick, and he’s athletic. He will bring other players into the game, and he will run all day long. We’ve got a top player on our hands.”

“He’s young, he’s hungry, and he’s a player that we see as ready now. He can get better and better, and we’ll like to see how far we can take him.

Scoring ten goals in twenty-seven appearances for the development squad, Etete has always impressed club staff and the managers he worked under in his various loan spells, but never really threatened to step up into the matchday squads, as younger development players have managed to. It wasn’t meant to be, and all the best to him and Cardiff!

Still trying to get rid of the unwanted Lo Celso, N’Dombele and Winks. Not even an offer.
Looks as though we will have to give them away which won’t please Levy.
Still feel we should offload Emerson Royal, Doherty and Sessegnon. Nowhere near good enough for a top Prem team.
    Sell 6 and but two.
We could with two more top signings…right wing back and forward thinking/creative/attacking midfielder.

wentworth – I don’t think you quite get the picture. We are paying N’Dombele £200k a week, £10m a year. No one would pay him anywhere near that even if they got him for free. He has a contract so he has no need to take a pay cut. So we can’t give him away, we can only pay him to play for someone else.

no, jod, there’s another alternative re: N’dombele. pay him to sit at home and waste away whatever talent he has while losing it through disuse. God know’s he’s not shown us his talent on a pitch. Why pay to let some other team find it? sit him down for two years and send lots of fattening foods to his house. deep fried stuff, and gobs of it. next time he steps on a pitch, let him waddle.

I prefer your solution TK. Perhaps, N’Dombele could guest for the under 18’s.
Maybe we have learnt a painful lesson. Let’s hope our scouting system is more robust and thorough. We have made a few awful signings.
I think Conte is a strong boss and knows what is best. Levy sems to have backed off signings lately.
