We are Spurs. We play flowing, attacking football. A shot on goal every seven minutes at least. About 200 minutes without a shot on goal? Might as well resurrect Georgie Graham to train all the players to concentrate on off sides traps. Parsimony to treat goals like money in the pocket of an oxen that has no fingers to pull out a crisp new bill to spend,
Lots to look forward to. Lots of “will we’s?”
Will we get 4th?
Will we swap Conte for Poch?
Will we offload 5 or 6 unwanted players? Winks, Emerson Royal, Lo Celso, N’Dombele, Bergwijn etc?
Will we rebuy Eriksen?
Will we rebuy Bale?
Will we ever buy a second striker?
Will we buy some decent wing backs?
Will we? Will we? Will we?
Exciting times. Audere est facere. We need to dare if we are going to do!
Word on the street says Conte stays and is looking for a residence, and his representatives are negotiating an extension to his contract. If true this indicates that the board are prepared to back him in the summer. This would suggest that those of us who expected the increased commercial income from the new stadium, which had been delayed by covid, were right and this is finally starting to pay off.
I hope you’re right TQ
Much as I respected Poch for what he did, now is not the right time for a return
Erikson and Bale however?? It could be just nice for them to come back home.
TQ2Spurs – The stadium was always going to generate cash once people were allowed in. However a club relying on normal revenues (i.e. most of us) will never be able to match the spending of an oil state. So the word “backing” is a slippery one, if it means spending cash we don’t have it won’t happen. Trying to predict what Conte is going to do seems a pretty hopeless task, we can but hope. It may be his decision will depend on whether we make top four or not. What I am sure of is we can’t keep changing managers if we want to build a squad. Either tie Conte down to a longer contract or find someone else to do the job for an extended period.
I don’t and never have expected the club to spend more than it can afford, it’s just a pity others get round the rules and have an unfair advantage. Maybe the governments new proposal for regulation of football clubs will help the game generally but I don’t see how it will be able to prevent the super rich from by-passing the sustainable business model.
I do agree that we need stabilty of management if we are to build a succesful team.
Poch back is a step sideways at best, and perhaps a step backwards. What Conte has been doing will be undone and for most of the players, it will be starting over again with a different system.
Poch wasn’t backed financially the last time, and probably wouldn’t be a second time. Conte wont’ stay without some solid assurances that DL will invest in the squad.
I like both of them as a manager, and a bucket of spit would be preferable to the not so special one.
Let’s win the last five matches solidly. Getting pipped for the CL by the Arse Wholes would not be acceptable.
