“Dumb and Dumber” – Former Manager Slams Spurs Duo After Liverpool Struggles

|

With Tottenham Hotspur now busily preparing to build on the small positives that were on show in our 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, we’re looking for far greater cheer on Merseyside as we head back up north to face Marco Silva’s Everton side this coming Sunday.

With plenty of fans having mixed views on the performance, some questioning form and quality and others questioning the commitment on show from the players, rewatching highlights for me at least, proves our problem isn’t commitment, it’s heavily form based – and given Everton’s own form, this is the perfect opportunity to put down a marker again.

One thing coming out of the last tie though was the ongoing questions surrounding the full back positions and Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane probably nailed it for many fans in his comments on the performances of Danny Rose and Serge Aurier.

“The two Tottenham full-backs were dreadful. Dumb and Dumber, I’d call them. I thought they were really poor.”

Keane rarely sugar coats his comments and although some will no doubt disagree and pivot to talking about the protection the duo received on the day, and Aurier certainly gets some defence on the penalty call, the two positions do continue to be an issue for us.

You don’t have to look far to see the calls for Ryan Sessegnon and Kyle Walker-Peters or Juan Foyth to be given their chances but whether that happens on Sunday remains to be seen.
