Defensive Shift Sees This Spurs Man Take The Top Rating From City

|

Monday evenings clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City left a lot to be desired really.

On a choppy Wembley pitch following recent NFL action, the quality of football from both sides wasn’t great and there appeared to be a number of ‘safety first’ decisions being taken but City did get the all-important goal through Riyad Mahrez in the sixth minute of the match.

Late on in the tie Erik Lamela was set to be the hero as he found himself in front of a gaping goal but the pitch seemed to have the last word and a divot got the better of him.

There were few positives when you look at the player ratings from statistics website WhoScored given the performance but Moussa Sissoko did take their Man of the Match.

Equally, although the victory saw City’s players rewarded with greater scores, even then you can probably see how the pitch affected them as well as their ratings were somewhat subdued.

The top five on the day under their system saw Hugo Lloris take second place, and he was followed by Davinson Sanchez, Tony Alderweireld and Mousa Sissoko.

Often maligned Ben Davies took sixth spot and with Dele Alli and Harry Winks following in seventh and eighth respectively, it backs up how bright they were in more limited time when coming off the bench, so with minutes into Alli and Eriksen in particular, that can only bode well for the next one.
