Tottenham Hotspur FC will learn later today if Brent Council officials will back the clubs request to make use of Wembley Stadium’s 90,000 capacity for the start of the 2017/18 season.

As part of its preparations for the 2017/18 season, and for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club using the Stadium as its home ground, Wembley National Stadium Limited (WNSL) has submitted a planning application to temporarily increase the number of full capacity events at Wembley Stadium.
The application (reference 17/0368) seeks to amend the existing cap to accommodate up to an additional 31 sporting events at Wembley Stadium between 1 August 2017 and 31 July 2018, where the available spectator capacity is increased from 51,000 up to 90,000.
The application is subject to an extensive consultation exercise to seek the views of residents and businesses. A decision is due to be made at a planning committee meeting on 23 March 2017.

The council officers’ recommendation is not decisive albeit it will give the THFC Board and fans a clear indication to the planning committee of their views and whether the application has any hope of success.

Will we or won’t we?
Brent Councils final decision is being held by many with baited breath as contingency plans will need to be put into practice should the clubs board decide to remain at the Lane for another season. In addition THFC have to inform the FA by the end of this month of their intentions.
Ticket pricing
Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust secretary Katrina Law is as eager as anyone to firm up ticket pricing plans for the 2017/18 season.
‘We are eager to hear where we’ll be playing next season and how much it will cost to watch our team. Presuming Wembley will be the venue, THST have lobbied for price parity.
‘That would mean no material increase in the price of a season ticket, minus a nominal amount for increased transport costs.
‘We’re also keen to ensure no season ticket package should cost more than individual match-day pricing in equivalent seating.’
The club / Brent Council is expected to make their respective statements in due course.
