Brazilian youngster attracting interest from Spurs

|

Tottenham are reportedly amongst a host of Premier League clubs that are interested in signing Brazilian midfielder Tete, that is according to Alasdair Gold who claims Director of Football Fabio Paratici, is an ‘admirer’ of the 22-year-old.

Tete is currently contracted to Ukranian giants Shakhtar Donetsk but is currently out on loan at French side Lyon.

The midfielder has made a big impact ever since arriving in the south of France, contributing to nine goals in 14 league appearances so far this season (Transfermarkt).

However, the Brazilian has struggled for minutes ever since Laurent Blanc took charge of Lyon back in early October. This has alerted a number of Premier League clubs to his situation with Spurs being one of those.

So would a move for Tete be worthwhile for Spurs?

Tete has played the majority of his football this season on the right hand side also playing as an attacking midfielder at some points. This will good news for the Spurs hierarchy as the club are reportedly prioritising a new attacking player aswell as a right wing-back (Football London).

Stats provided by FB Ref suggest Tete could make a real impact in North London. For example he currently ranks in the top 9% of players in his position for assists (0.39) per 90. He also ranks in the top 6% for goal-creating actions (0.84) per 90 – ranking slightly behind current Spurs attacker Dejan Kulusevski (0.89)

Antonio Conte is also of course very keen on his players working hard for the side and Tete is no stranger to this – as he ranks in the top 15% of players in his position for tackles and interceptions (0.84) per 90.

Tete seems like a smart potential signing for Spurs but with the Brazilian currently on loan at Lyon, it seems any potential deal would be difficult to complete in January.
