Spurs youngster set to be thrown loan move lifeline

Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr may be set for a temporary switch away from North London, that is according to Calcio Mercato (via The Boot Room) who have stated the midfielder is wanted by Serie A side Salernitana.

The report states that talks between the two parties have already begun, with Sarr likely to jump at the chance of securing some first-team football.

The youngster will hope to get his season underway in Italy, with the midfielder failing to make a single senior appearance for Spurs this season – struggling to displace Spurs stalwarts Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

He did however feature for Senegal at this winter’s World Cup, with the 20-year-old making two appearances from the bench – coming on at half-time in Senegal’s 3-0 defeat to England.

His 45 minute cameo against the Three Lions caught the eye of many Spurs fans with the youngster impressing in second half.

The 20-year-old joined the Lilywhites in the summer of 2021 from FC Metz for around £13 million, spending the rest of the season back on loan at the French side.

It was hoped that Sarr would take the step up to the Spurs first-team this season but unsurprisingly Antonio Conte has chosen to rely on more senior players.

Sarr is not the only youngster who will be looking for a temporary switch away from the club, with Bryan Gil and Japhet Tanganga also likely to leave in January on loan.
