Today, news broke that Tottenham will not look to renew Lucas Moura’s deal, a contract that is to expire this summer.
That is according to Mike McGrath who states that the Brazilian’s deal was set to run to 2024 but the final year of the deal needed to be activated by the club and the Spurs hierarchy has decided to not activate the extension, meaning Moura will now be allowed to leave the club on a Bosman this summer.
This news may pique the interest of a number of clubs, especially Newcastle and Aston Villa who both made approaches for the winger last summer.
Newcastle wanted Lucas Moura as they approached Tottenham during Deadline Day, same for Aston Villa. Spurs decided to keep the player, never been advanced. ⚪️🇧🇷 #THFC

Moura has been a fine servant for the club, making 213 appearances for the club since joining from Paris Saint-Germain back in January 2018 (Transfermarkt). He will of course be most remembered for his Champions League heroics back in 2019, with his dramatic second-half hat-trick against Ajax – sending Spurs to their first-ever Champions League final.
Despite being well-liked by the majority of the Spurs fanbase, he will arguably not be missed. As the additions of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, as well as the emergence of Bryan Gil have meant that Moura has slipped further down in the pecking order, only playing a total of 90 mins in the league so far this season (Transfermarkt).
