Ben Davies names which Tottenham player is ‘one of the hardest workers in training’

|

Ben Davies was full of praise for Juan Foyth after his winning goal for Tottenham against Crystal Palace over the weekend, saying the young defender is “one of the hardest workers in training”. Foyth scored a second-half goal at Selhurst Park to earn Tottenham all three points on Saturday and Davies is proud of the progress he’s made since his 2017-move from Estudiantes.

As per the Daily Star, he said: “Juan’s been flying but we see it every day in training. He’s been one of the hardest workers in training for the last year-and-a-half since he arrived, and he’s come on leaps and bounds. You can see from the celebrations how pleased the boys were to see him score that goal”. Foyth has made 11 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham and could be somewhat of a regular this campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino certainly isn’t short on centre-backs, with Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and now Foyth being an option at the heart of the backline, so it’s highly unlikely that a new face will be brought in during the January transfer window. Davies’ comments on Foyth showcase exactly why he’s in the first-team this season.

The 20-year-old is working hard to get Pochettino’s attention and is getting his just rewards. Tottenham are enjoying a good season too. They currently sit fourth in the Premier League with 27 points from 12 games, having won six of their last seven outings. Only Manchester City (5), Liverpool (5) and Chelsea (8) have better defensive record than Spurs (10). Foyth has played his part in that.
