BAE Released!

Football is often a very unforgiving game, but the departure of Benoit Assou-Ekotto had an element of good riddance about it. A player clearly ostracised by Poch and perhaps others before him, you can only imagine the atmosphere between Levy and BAE. Can you picture two such contrasting characters?

I actually likes Benny as a player and also to a degree felt I understood his character. I have never taken offence to a player publicly stating he is in it for the money, we we should know by now, that money is king to so many and I actually found his confession, honest, even if a little brutal.

Is BAE the type of player that will find working with modern managers difficult? I would guess so and I feel the rot started under AVB and never recovered. I do however wonder if he lost his motivation to play once Harry Redknap left the club and new ideas were implemented that didn`t suit his mindset.

His loan at QPR, wasn`t positive and it seemed he was just treading water until his Spurs deal ran out. Did his being frozen out by Spurs bother him?I guess we will soon find out, based on what happens to the rest of his career…
