According to the Daily Mirror, Spartak Moscow Have ‘snubbed’ a £10 million bid from Tottenham for Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

26 year old Pavlyuchenko was one of the star
performers for Russia during Euro 2008, However Spartak say that they will not sell to a club who are not in the Champions League and do not represent a step up for their player.

Spartak general director Sergei Shavlo declared:’We have received two offers. One of them is from an English team.

‘Since it’s not a team playing in European Champions League we are more likely than not to reject their offer.’

Though this story has possible merit, again the anti Spurs projection of this is typical of the media’s attitude towards Spurs. As we discussed yesterday, why does this represent a snub, the terms were not matched. There has as yet been no comment from the player…

While I wonder whether Spartak’s stance would still be so strong if the Spurs offer was 20 million and not 10, would the clubs insistence of wanting the player to move to a champions league side?

What do you think!!!!
