With mixed emotions following Saturday evening’s Champions League Final defeat to Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reflecting on the match with a mix of pride and complete dejection.
Having lost 2-0 despite creating the better and more chances, history will only record the score and the winners, but there are a few talking points to come from the game and one was most certainly the softest penalty award in history and why Video Assistant Referee technology seems to support the theory that armpit-ball is now a thing, despite the circumstances proving, that all considered, that falls squarely under ‘accidental handball’ at absolute best.
The relative performances of both sides have also been questioned with mixed thoughts on which side was more under par, how much our performance was hit and dented by the penalty so early in the game.
Lord Alan Sugar gave his take on it following the fulltime whistle and there will be plenty who agree with his summation of things.
Back home 2.30 am . Reflecting on what could happened with Spurs v Liverpool. Pundits say it was not a penalty. I wonder why ref did not use VAR to check. Liverpool spent next 85 mins slowing the game down. Slow walking to take corners. Spurs didnt turn up for the first 75 mins

It’s spurious to criticise Liverpool’s approach though, they wanted the win and given we’ve had a season of ‘just doing enough’ in matches, it’s the shoe was on the other foot, I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t have done anything differently either.
