“A Special Opportunity” – Tottenham’s New Stadium To Feature A New Sport With 5 Year Deal

|

With Tottenham Hotspur’s new White Hart Lane stadium opening in recent weeks with two successful test events, it’s all eyes to tonight’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace as we finally move away from Wembley.

It won’t only be Champions League and Premier League football that the new WHL plays host to, as we have already secured NFL action and American Football, and now chairman Daniel Levy has confirmed that a deal has been done with Saracens to host Rugby Union for the next five years – beginning in 2020, with the current deal expiring in 2025.

Our ground will play host to them for one match a season when it comes to their ‘Big Game’ Gallagher Premiership fixtures and it’s quite a coup as previous venues for their annual clash (usually against rivals Harlequins) have been the London Stadium and Wembley.

Another small step for the grand vision the new stadium allows and Sky Sports quoted Levy as saying.

“This agreement with Saracens further reinforces our aspiration to deliver a world-class multi-use venue in our home of Tottenham. This is an exciting partnership and, alongside Premier League and NFL matches, it is one that continues to underline our desire to create a sports and entertainment destination that we believe can transform this area of London.”

Nigel Wray, Saracens chairman added.

“As someone brought up at White Hart Lane, for me and Saracens it’s a really special opportunity for us to partner with our fellow north Londoners, with whom we share so many of our core values. Tottenham Hotspur have shown themselves to be true innovators in the development of their new stadium and I know you will all share in my excitement at the news that we will make their ground the home of our showpiece fixture.”

Onwards and upwards.
