Danny Rose has said he has moved on from the comments he made last August and is hoping to be at the club next season.

The left-back had to apologise after his notorious interview with the Sun, but he is now hoping to put it all behind him:

“I have learned my lesson on speaking on that sort of stuff. It is good that the manager has come out and said that. I hope the manager, his coaching staff, the recruitment staff and the chairman can all come together and give the manager what he wants.”

“I fancy myself against anybody in the league. Pre-season; come back and hopefully me and Ben start from scratch and we start again and work hard to nail that number one spot.”

It doesn’t seem a coincidence that reports have emerged that Manchester United have cooled their interest in our no.3. Reports that Everton are now leading the chase may have prompted a re-assessment by Danny about his future.

The fact that he hasn’t performed anywhere as well since his return from injury has likely put off potential suitors. He will likely use the World Cup as a chance to prove himself, but whether that will be for Mauricio Pochettino’s benefit or in a bid to attract more bids from other prospective clubs, we will soon find out over the coming months.
