WSL Preview: Spurs vs Man Utd

|

Tottenham Hotspur Women return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time this campaign to take on Manchester United in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, with the match kicking off at 12 PM BST and live on Sky Sports Main Event from 11:30 AM BST.

Last time out, Rehanne Skinner’s Spurs were unlucky to lose out to Chelsea, ending up on the wrong side of a five-goal encounter as Emma Hayes’ league leaders ran out 3-2 winners at Brisbane Road.

Despite the close scoreline, that defeat now makes it six consecutive WSL defeats for Skinner’s Spurs, and things do not get any easier with United coming to town this weekend.

Indeed, United are now second in the league and closing in on last weekend’s opponents, being only two points behind Hayes’ Blues at the time of writing.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Skinner was complimentary of the Red Devils, stating that their healthy position in the league can be attributed to having a settled XI, which has acted as a platform for a consistent run of form:

“They’ve got results that have put them in a good position. The team has been pretty much the same for most of the season. We were in that position last year and when you have that run of player availability it helps you to gel and get relationships together. Naturally you’re able to evolve the team when that happens.

“It’s going to be a tough game for us but we’re in a very good position and ready to play it.”
