Last weekend saw Tottenham Hotspur slip to six points off the top spot in the Premier League table as we went down 2-1 to Liverpool at Wembley.
It’s still early days but it’s fair comment to say we’ve looked off the pace in the last two matches and with Watford included ahead of the international break, it is now back to back losses for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and it makes for a bad couple of weeks for fans with the September international break getting in the way of real football.
Although Erik Lamela made it a one-goal game, and we could’ve nicked a point with a late Son Heung-min penalty shout that was pathetically rejected, it’s hard to argue we deserved much from the tie really.
Dier Is useless. Can’t dribble, tackle, run or pass. When he does pass he often plays it to someone who has three people hanging on them or behind someone where they have to stretch to reach it #THFC

He’s the biggest fucking fraud on the team mate. Stealing a living. Wouldn’t start for many mid table sides let alone top 6.

Eric dier should never put a football kit on ever again never mind a spurs one! His performance today was the worst I’ve ever seen from any player in my whole life. Done thanks

And Vorm is not a good replacement and fault for both goals

Eric Dier is either tired or injured because he has not been in form yet. Passing and dribbling has been atrocious. Love the player but he needs to get better. #COYS #thfc #TOTLIV

As for midfield, I don't want to see Dier in there again. Our midfield lacks in energy and he is the epitome of it.
Now Wanyama is back the manager must pick him. Wanyama has power and is a smart player. He can get us on the frontfoot like in his debut season.

Trippier, Davies, Dier, Dembele. Just go.

Hard to find positives today. Dier's worst Spurs performance, Dembele sloppy and, worryingly, brushed off the ball the way he normally does to opponents. Trippier shocking defensively, Winks understandably rusty, Eriksen and knackered Kane anonymous.

Few players came out of the game with much credit, but as per the above social media comments, Eric Dier certainly bore the brunt of criticism following the game. Whether some think it’s harsh in light of the overall performance or not, he was poor – but those looking to cash in – well I think that’s an overreaction myself as although he rarely looks spectacular, he’s normally steady and reliable for me.
