World Cup winner reportedly “offered” to Spurs

According to reports from Footmercato, N’Golo Kante has been offered to Spurs amid rumours that his time at Chelsea may be coming to an end, as new boss Graham Potter ushers in a new era at Stamford bridge.

The report states that if Kante was to leave the blues – with his contract running out next summer – the player would like to stay in London. This has led to the midfielder being linked to both North London clubs, namely Spurs and Arsenal.

Kante, played under Spurs coach Antonio Conte at Chelsea in the 2016/17 season – a season in which they pipped Spurs to win the title.

Since that title win, Kante and Conte have reportedly stayed in contact – according to L’Equipe – fuelling more fire to the potential Spurs rumours.

“Kante” still do it?

There is no doubting the Frenchmen is still one of the best midfielders in Europe, when he is fully fit and firing.

This was shown by Chelsea’s form falling away towards the back end of the season, when Kante was unable to feature.

Many football fans will still foolishly see Kante as just a ball-winner but ever since joining Chelsea, he has developed into a fantastically well-rounded player.

His ball carrying alone, would be an asset to any team in the league, with the midfielder ranking in the top 7% of midfielders last season (across Europe’s top five leagues) for progressive carries and carries into the final third.

Conte will no doubt be keen to secure the Frenchman’s services after telling Sky Sports in 2020, that “Kante is one of the best players I have ever coached.”

Injury Problems

However, if the Lilywhites do look to add the Ex-Leicester man to their squad, they must factor in his recent injury record.

As over the past couple of seasons, Kante has struggled massively with injuries, limiting his game time so much so, that the midfielder has missed 21 games since the beginning of last season.

But the real question is Spurs fans, would you take Kante at Spurs?
