Tottenham have confirmed that Jonathan Woodgate has undergone minor surgery on his troublesome groin injury.
Woodgate has had the operation today (Tuesday), after what I assume was on the recommendation of specialists in America, where he has spent time on a diagnosis.
After struggling with a back injury at the end of last season, Woody missed our entire pre season preparation this summer, but hopefully this surgery will resolve his current problems and rest will have also help him recover fully from his other ailments, that troubled him last season.
The club have yet to give an estimated time for his return, but we have to assume that he will miss at least four weeks of the season, as he recovers and regains fitness.
With Sebastien Bassong now at the club, we are not quite so desperate for Centre backs, but should we lose Ledley, we will be severely light on experience in our defensive unit, so a fit Woodgate and equally Michael Dawson will be a huge boost for the club in the very near future.
