Sorry if the title upsets anyone but the Everton game encapsulated for me all that is wrong with ‘The Tottenham Way’, why it doesn’t win you titles.

Having taken the lead with a slightly lucky goal we had fifteen minutes to close down the game and play out to full time. A team capable of winning the title would have ground out the win, we couldn’t. Everton were the ones who kept going, not just equalising in the dying minutes but winning the game.

Its not the first points we have dropped from a winning position this season and it won’t be the last. We can talk all we like about the quality of players, but as Moyes men showed its also about the attitude of the team. If you don’t have the concentration, determination and discipline then the skill counts for nothing.

For as long as I can remember we have folded when the going got tough, there is a mental strength that has just never been there. Maybe its because of our history, the double side was so good they could win on skill alone, that won’t happen again. But unless and until we develop the kind of collective mental strength that Ferguson’s sides have always shown we will never be able to actually win league competitions, I don’t care who we sign.
