I said a while back I was hoping to make more of some of the excellent comments from you, the Vital Spurs crowd, and this comment was pointed out to me earlier today as being worthy of a wider audience.

I don’t think we played so poorly on Saturday.
If we win when not at our best, that’s probably because our version of poor is better than most PL teams version of good. So, not so bad, just not at our scintillating best…
Huddersfield, in spite of being at the bottom of the table, gave it their best shot from the off. They didn’t park the bus as such and did their utmost to get themselves an early lead. They went for it. Spurs weathered the storm, kept them out and won quite comfortably in the end. Just as I expected they would do.
There were a lot of positives for me. Rose looked sharp, defended strongly and attacked well with pace and skill. It was a sweet exchange with Son that had him pulled back for the penalty. Harry was also looking sharper than recently. He took his penalty with his usual confidence and flair. Trippier looked good on the opposite side to Rose and did just as well, supplying yet another neat assist for Harry with his first goal.
Sanchez was solid and didn’t put a foot or head wrong. Huddersfield put in a lot of crosses and high balls into our area, probably seeing this as being a defensive weakness for us recently. He got his head on most of them and cleaned up countless times. Having to step up a couple of times to tidy up some loose play from Toby in the first half. (I’ve read a lot about Dier giving the ball away with his sloppy passing.) Toby was guilty of this as well. Even so, Toby was solid in the second half. As Jan was in the first.
Dier took his place in the 2nd half and played well alongside Sanchez and Toby.
Dembele was strong and commanding for his 45 minutes. Winks and Wanyama looked good in Dier’s and Dembele’s place. Wanyama was looking more like his old self and Harry W too.
Gazza made some fine saves. Son and Moura both worked their socks off. Lucas was probably our most creative player in the absence of Eriksen and Dele.
So, for me, it may not have been the most impressive of footballing performances but, there were many positives that outweighed the few negatives. Oh, and we won. 2-0! 3 points!
