Which Team Would Win?

Before anything, I wish to make it clear, Harry Redknapp is the best manager at Tottenham I have seen in my lifetime – over 20 years.

His achievements at the club speak for themselves. However, I think the quality of players Harry has brought into the squad has been very weak. After January’s attempted signing of Phil Neville, yesterday’s interest in Asamoah Gyan, coupled with last week’s capture of Brad Friedel, just as examples, I am now very nervous.

I think we wasted the money we made from selling Berbatov, and if Modric went it would be beyond disastrous. In short, I am not at all happy with Harry Redknapp’s dealings in the transfer market since he joined the club! Now obviously you are not going to actively look to buy players in positions where there is already high quality. But, to demonstrate the different calibre in players we were buying before and since Redknapp, I have pieced together two teams.

The first team is only composed of players who were signed before, or at the club, when Harry took over. The second is only players who Redknapp (or Levy!) signed. Pre-Redknapp: Gomes, Ekotto, Dawson, King, Corluka, Bale, Huddlestone, Modric, Lennon, Pavlyuchenko, Bent Since Redknapp: Friedel, Bassong, Gallas, Kaboul, Walker, Kranjcar, Sandro, Palacios, Van der Vaart, Defoe, Crouch So honestly, which team is best? This is my first article, so hope it raises some interesting discussion. Cheers.
