It’s fair to say that Tottenham have been up with the best teams in Europe when it comes to producing talent for the English national side. Whilst outfits like Chelsea have strayed towards more of a continental outlook when it comes to their squad, the Lilywhites have looked a little closer to home.
Individuals like Dele Alli and Harry Kane have made their names at Tottenham and have used that to force their way into the national side, and now Harry Winks is doing the same.
Having broken into the team over the last year or so, Winks is back in the fold for the current international break, and according to Sky Sports News, he’s set to start for Spurs against Spain this evening (Monday).

England aren’t blessed with central midfielders, and Winks is the sort of player that they lack. Technically gifted and eagle-eyed, the 22-year-old has bags of quality.
It’s big news for Tottenham too. If Winks can force his way into the team regularly for his country, that will surely bode well for his chances for his club, too. More games are rarely a bad thing for a young player.
However, it doesn’t appear as though many other fans are too impressed. Though Spurs fans rate him highly, the same can’t be said for other fans, with many taking to Twitter to react to the news with frustration. They clearly don’t fancy him.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
