What Does The Future Hold For Tottenham’s Four Loaned Out Stars?

|

Mauricio Pochettino isn’t a fan of the loan system it seems. The Argentine seems content on keeping most young players in-house, with those given temporary moves generally not in the manager’s first team thoughts.

So, what does the future hold for the four players who spent last season out on loan?

Vincent Janssen

The Dutchman’s year-long spell at Fenerbahce was meant to provide greater first-team opportunities, but an ankle injury led to him spending four months on the sidelines.

The striker still managed to play 18 games in all competitions for the Turkish club, scoring five goals and providing four assists in the process.  The team’s president Aziz Yildirim is believed to be keen on keeping the 23-year-old.

He may get his wish as well if they make an offer that matches our valuation. Poch is said to be keen on recruiting Anthony Martial as a potential alternative to Harry Kane, leaving little room for the Netherlands international.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

A return to France is highly likely for the 23-year-old. We made a sizeable effort to sign the winger for £9m from Marseille in 2016 but things just haven’t worked out.

He was sent out to Burnley for the second half of last season, but he failed to impress, having made eight appearances and just two starts for Sean Dyche’s side.

Despite starting and scoring in the 3-0 win over APOEL Nicosia in December, he has never started a league game for us, and in his 23 appearances for the club, he has been named in the starting line up just three times.

Josh Onomah

It was a season of two halves for the attacking midfielder. He was a fixture in Villa’s first team at the start of the campaign, but after Jack Grealish’s return to fitness, he was moved into central midfield and wide roles.

By the end of the season, he was in and out of the starting line-up and played just 13 minutes in the Championship playoffs. At 21 years of age, he still has time on his side. He will likely be assessed by the club’s staff in pre-season before possibly being sent out on loan once again.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

The American international’s future at the club looks bright after he signed a new three-year contract last month. It was a reward for a very good season out on loan at Ipswich Town.

The 20-year-old played regularly at centre-half for the Tractor Boys and helped them to a mid-table finish. He was also given his first senior cap for the USA back in November, coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 friendly draw against Portugal.

A number of Championship sides, and possibly some Premier League teams, may want to loan out the defender once again this summer.
