“We Controlled The Game” – Pochettino Pleased That Spurs Have A “Good Feeling” After Everton Clash

|

Tottenham Hotspur were given a midweek trip out to the Rajko Mitic Stadium as we once again faced Red Star Belgrade in our Group B Champions League adventure.

With a poor Everton performance in the build up to the game, we at least saw Son Heung-Min’s red card overturned and fans were desperate for a repeat performance following the effective first leg tie the other week.

Most fans would’ve expected a win given the previous 5-0 victory and whilst we couldn’t reach those heights, it was a semi-comfortable game for us and goals from Giovani Lo Celso, a Sonny brace and a late effort from Christian Eriksen was enough to send the win our way.

I won’t mention corners being turned this time though.

Speaking to the BBC following the full time whistle, manager Mauricio Pochettino said of our efforts on the night.

“We are happy for the performance of the team. It is a very difficult place and we spoke a lot before the game about Liverpool, PSG and Napoli not winning here, but the team was fantastic. We controlled the game after we scored and we were much better. We have a big squad and when you have plenty of options you have problems too because someone is happy and someone is not. This season is different to the previous season and now we need to keep going. It is only a game and we need to add three more points to qualify but it is a good feeling after Everton.”
