“We Are Reducing The Gap With The Best” – Spurs Man Targets Silverware To Prove Improvements

Few can deny that it hasn’t been a great first half to the 2018/19 campaign for Tottenham Hotspur, even if we’ve had some frustrating hiccups along the way.

A lack of summer spending, and numerous and repeat delays with our move back to White Hart Lane put a cloud over the club but performances on the pitch have been a significant high point for many. Learning how to win ugly, still having in the locker the ability to blow teams away and we are through to the next round of the Champions League after some struggles and are flying high at the top of the Premier League table.

Few make us title contenders, especially after the Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat but even then, prior to the game taking us seriously was only a dabble for some – but that’s not the point in some ways. We’re better in the mix, despite the hiccups, our consistency has improved and that’s despite numerous injuries.

Whatever happens with the title, I think Hugo Lloris is spot on in just calling for some silverware this year to show our steady improvements under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

“This is what we work for. But we know we are in the Premier League and there are a lot of contenders, big teams, big players, and that is why we are excited to be here. We are in the most competitive country so we keep working with the same mentality and do our best. We have shown in the past that Tottenham is very competitive and we are reducing the gap with the best.”

Get back to winning ways against Cardiff City to silence the doubters once again and expect more blips in 2019 – it’s football they happen.
