With Pochettino once claiming that he doesn`t believe in loaning out his best young players – given he feels that nobody would be better at coaching them than him – it is fair to say that for the likes of Carter-Vickers, Edwards and Onomah their futures at the club are seemingly bleak. We simply use the loan system to get transfer valuations up and it`s hard to argue that it is working for us – with the club banking nearly £60m on the likes of Mason, Bentaleb, N`jie, Fazio last summer. It is the sign of the modern times, with Chelsea cashing in on unwanted talent every season.

To be honest I have never thought too much about it; until I stumbled upon this rant by a Villa fan who took exception to Poch talking about Josh Onomah and whether he will be recalled to the club this January window.

As you can see from his article, he felt the comments did the player and Aston Villa no favours at all and simply unsettles all involved. Fair point perhaps, but maybe the player isn`t progressing at the Midlands and would benefit with a move elsewhere – I mean let`s be honest Onomah is hardly pulling up any trees, or making any headlines this season.

That said, I do understand the frustrations of his rant; however, I do wonder if the boot was on the other foot as to whether he would be so upset about it?

Let`s be honest Aston Villa are one of English football`s great clubs and it must be gruelling to see them shopping in a different transfer market – in order to improve their squad and aid their promotion chances. In truth, the previous mismanagement at Villa Park is not Tottenham`s problem and we didn`t have to loan them anyone. You could argue that it is actually a risk-free move for Steve Bruce in taking Onomah – with all parties benefiting from it at little cost. Villa clearly didn`t want to make a financial offer for the player last summer, therefore leaving them exposed to this, so if Poch chooses to bring him back it is our prerogative surely? You can`t have it both ways.

However, I do wonder if Villa fans would be so upset if it was Tottenham that was relying on loan deals to aid their promotion chances and not them?
