With plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans feeling frustrated with how long it took the side to breakdown a resilient Aston Villa side on opening day, midfielder Harry Winks took an unfair bit of criticism for me as I looked around the internet given his actual performance on the day.
The 23-year-old looked pretty solid alongside Tanguy Ndombele for me, and as the game drew on, we eventually got our just reward when Ndombele and Harry Kane gave us the 3-1 victory. With Winks making way for Christian Eriksen, I’m not so sure people should be overly reading into that decision by manager Mauricio Pochettino, but reacting to a clip posted up by the clubs’ social media team from the game, Winks certainly took some praise for the role he occupied.

I know you can never judge a performance by a single clip, and his tricky out on the wing actually took my eye during the game, but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a big year for the lad.
the best ❤
