Udogie deal nears completion

Reports over the past week that Destiny Udogie’s arrival from Udinese is approaching have been validated by numerous reputable sources over the past few days. Indeed, both the BBC and the Evening Standard are reporting that the deal to bring 19 year-old Udogie to Spurs has now been agreed. Both sources report that a fee of approximately £20 million has been settled between Spurs and Udinese, whilst personal terms with the player have been agreed for a while.

According to the Daily Mail, Udogie will fly to England on Monday to complete a medical before linking back up with Udinese to remain on loan with the Italians for the remainder of the 2022/23 season. Interestingly, the Mail also claim that it was Conte’s idea to not only sign him, but also loan him back out to Udinese for the season in order to develop him. Udogie is seen by Conte as a big prospect in Italian football and is hoping to break into Italy’s senior team, having made a positive impression in national circles with his U-21 exploits.

The same report from the Mail continues by claiming that the club’s focus is now on shifting unwanted bodies. As well as the ostracised quartet of N’dombele, Lo Celso, Winks and Sergio Reguilon, Gil is also one the club are looking to move on. Valencia are credited with a strong interest in the Spaniard’s services, and are set to solidify their interest in signing Gil next week, along with Sampdoria and Real Sociedad.
