Transfer News: Tottenham set to be forced into cut price sale of forgotten man

|

Tottenham’s final few days of the transfer window will undoubtedly be filled with excitement as Jose Mourinho is set to bring in a few new faces to revamp the current team that the fans have gone a long time with without major changes, but there may well be some departures too.

The Portuguese tactician could be set to allow one particular man to leave the club, and that man is the Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama, who has had his time as a Tottenham player has been curtailed by injury in the last 18 months or so despite his bright performances at the start of his reign.

Now, though, it looks like the ex-Southampton man is going to be making his way to the third different Premier League team of his footballing career, as Aston Villa are being linked with a move for the defensive midfield man at just a fraction of the price that Spurs demanded in the summer.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Tottenham wanted to see a fee of around £17m for Wanyama back in summer 2019, but now as Mourinho is keen to see Wanyama out of the door before the passing of Friday’s deadline, the club could be set to allow the player to leave for just £9m or lower.

The report states:

‘Tottenham could reportedly be forced into lowering their asking price for Victor Wanyama in order to shift the midfielder.’

‘Wanyama has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho and Spurs are willing to let him go before Friday’s transfer deadline.’

Should Tottenham sell Wanyama?

Yes

‘Spurs wanted around £17m for the 28-year-old in the summer window but struggled to find a buyer ready to part with that kind of money.’

‘They lowered their valuation to £9m at the start of this month but may have to consider a smaller ‘cut-price fee’ to entice potential suitors to make a bid.’
