Transfer News: Tottenham hold talks with 53-goal Brazilian target man

|

Tottenham supporters will all be well aware of the fact that they are desperate for a striker and that Daniel Levy and Jose Mourinho are assessing their options. However, if reports are to be believed then the Lilywhites could be closer to a deal than was thought.

Last night, as Spurs fans were settling down and preparing themselves for what would turn out to be a tough clash with Norwich City, the news broke that Mourinho’s side are edging closer to brokering a deal for Real Sociedad striker, Willian Jose.

The 28-year-old Brazilian is a talented player who fits the mould of a Jose Mourinho target-man striker. This season so far has seen the San Sebastian favourite bag eight goals from 16 La Liga starts (Transfermarkt), and in total he’s netted 53 times for Sociedad in 130 games for the Spanish side (Transfermarkt).

The rumours linking Willian Jose and Tottenham Hotspur can be found on Sky Sports, and the article states:

‘Tottenham have held talks with Real Sociedad about a potential move for striker Willian Jose.’

‘The 28-year-old was left out of Sociedad’s squad for their Copa Del Rey game against Espanyol on Wednesday.’

‘Spurs have looked at numerous strikers with a view to bringing someone in to cope with Kane’s injury, but Mourinho remained tight-lipped on their hopes of signing him after Spurs’ win over Norwich on Wednesday night: “He’s a Real Sociedad player. I don’t comment on players from other clubs.’

Should we sign Willian Jose?

Yes

No

It may be frustrating for the Lilywhites as their gaffer remains coy on these links, but this is a deal that the media is having us believe is a lot closer to be completed than you might think, and with the club desperate for a striker, you can’t blame Levy and Jose for wanting to get any deal over the line quickly.
