Transfer News: After avoiding exit in summer, Tottenham could wave goodbye to senior ace in the coming days

|

Tottenham fans have long been able to enjoy the marauding left-back Danny Rose going up and down the left flank, but now it looks like the supporters may have to wave goodbye to the defender, as talk has come up that a loan move away from north London is an option for him this January.

Over the summer, the Lilywhites almost said goodbye to the England international, yet the interest from Watford came to nothing and Mauricio Pochettino, the then-Tottenham manager, held onto his defender (Sky Sports), although that doesn’t mean he won’t be on his way this month.

The defender has been linked with a loan move to Newcastle United. Steve Bruce recently lost his loanee, Jetro Willems, to injury and now it seems that the Magpies are desperate to bring in some kind of left-back replacement, and Rose is on their radar.

This news has come from The Telegraph, and it claims that Jose Mourinho is keen to trim down this Tottenham squad as well as Bruce looking to bolster his defensive options.

The article states:

‘Newcastle will consider offering Danny Rose an escape route from Tottenham after losing his place in Jose Mourinho’s team.’

‘Steve Bruce was interested in the England left-back during the summer and has Rose on his radar following Jetro Willems’ season-ending knee injury.’

‘The Spurs manager also wants to trim his squad and Rose will be allowed to go if the right offer comes in.’

No, Mourinho's Moved On

Rose has played for Newcastle’s rivals Sunderland during a loan spell earlier in his career and the Doncaster-born defender has previously spoken about being keen to play in the north again, having started his career with Leeds.

Newcastle are likely to look for a loan for the rest of the season as Paul Dummett also faces surgery on a tendon injury.’
