Kyle Walker-Peters arguably deserves more of a chance at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old has shown plenty of promise when given the opportunity to play, however, Mauricio Pochettino has only given him limited chances to make an impact on the pitch.
So, it was hardly a surprise to hear that the two were set to hold talks next month (Football.London) regarding the right-back’s future at the club as he is surely at the stage where he needs to be playing regular football.
A report by The Times also recently circulated suggesting that we offered Crystal Palace the chance to sign Walker-Peters this summer in exchange for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whilst it is also thought we could be prepared to offer him again following their defender’s imminent switch to Manchester United.
And, if we can strike a loan deal with the Premier League outfit for the 22-year-old, then he should look to leave as it would only benefit everyone involved.
As we mentioned in a previous article on Vital Spurs, if he cannot be trusted by Pochettino to fill a suitable role in the first-team and get regular minutes on the pitch over the summer, then perhaps it would be wise for him to move out on loan to another Premier League side or a Championship outfit where those appearances would essentially be guaranteed.
And, Crystal Palace could be the perfect club for him to continue with that development. Roy Hodgson would be able to give him the game-time he needs and he would also have the ability to develop the England Under-21 international further as he is the type of player that would thrive at Selhurst Park.
Similar to Wan-Bissaka, Walker-Peters likes to get forward and exposing him to their style of play could help take him and his game to another level, which could then benefit Spurs in the future should we be unable to solve our current right-back issues.
Arguably, Walker-Peters is too good to offload permanently at the present moment in time, however, with Pochettino hardly giving him the opportunities he desperately needs at this stage of his career, a loan move could work wonders for everyone involved.
If we manage to solve our right-back issues this summer and he plays well on loan, then we could potentially make a fee on him making it a win-win situation.
