Tottenham look set to be without seven players for Saturday’s meeting with Leicester City – Davinson Sanchez (hamstring), Kieran Trippier (groin), Juan Foyth (hamstring), Erik Lamela (thigh), Victor Wanyama (knee), Mousa Dembele (ankle), Vincent Janssen (foot).
Trippier’s return date is unknown, with Mauricio Pochettino bemoaning the right-back’s groin problem that developed for England during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Serge Aurier will deputise in defence.
Foyth and Sanchez will also miss out, so Jan Vertonghen should partner toby Alderweireld at the heart of the backline. Both sidelined defenders are likely to miss Spurs’ Champions League meeting with Barcelona on December 11 too.
In midfield, Tottenham will be without both Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele, meaning Eric Dier and one of Harry Winks or Moussa Sissoko will be called upon in the engine room.
Lamela is expected to be absent against Leicester and Barcelona but could return later this month. He’s been undergoing rehab on a thigh injury. As for Janssen, the Spurs striker has been out with a foot problem and looks set to continue being sidelined.
Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League table with 33 points from 15 games, coming off the back of four wins from their last five outings.
