Tottenham will not sign highly-rated Brazilian in £35m deal – opinion

|

Tottenham are being linked with Brazilian midfielder Allan, with CalcioNapoli24 reporting that Spurs have made £35m available to procure his signature. With Mousa Dembele tipped to leave Spurs next summer, Mauricio Pochettino will be on the hunt for a replacement. Allan is unlikely to be on his way, however, for a variety of reasons.

The Napoli midfielder only signed a new deal at the Stadio San Paolo in March and it didn’t come with a release clause, so it’s highly unlikely the Serie A giants would accept a £35m bid for Allan’s signature. He’s a key player at Napoli, featuring in 115 of the club’s 127 league games, and surely wouldn’t want to leave so soon after extending his contract.

Tottenham will have to start making enquiries for a stellar central midfielder if Dembele’s summer departure is certain, but Allan would be a very ambitious acquisition. Napoli have no desire to sell one of their best players, Allan has no desire to leave his beloved club and Tottenham have no desire to meet his more realistic asking price of £53m.

It’s hard to see any progress being made on CalcioNapoli24’s report.
