Tottenham will not make £90m transfer decision to save manager’s job – opinion

|

Heung-min Son is being linked with a move to Bayern Munich again, with Calciomercato reporting that the German giants are desperate for the Tottenham forward as Nico Kovac’s job is at stake. It’s unknown if he’ll be in charge in January, so he may not have time to make winter signings.

Bayern are currently fifth in the Bundesliga with 21 points from 12 games, nine points adrift of leaders Borussia Dortmund. Kovac’s side have gone three games without a win in the league while only Augsburg & Vfb Stuttgart have won fewer home games.

With James Rodriguez expected to return to Real Madrid next season, Franck Ribery having failed to score, Serge Gnabry netting just once, Arjen Robben turning 35 in January 2019 and Kingsley Coman making only one appearance this season, Bayern have a need for a new attacker.

Calciomercato believe Bayern will make an ambitious approach to bring Son back to Germany, with the South Korean international have made 135 appearances in the Bundesliga for Hamburger CV and Bayer Leverkusen. Their interest may be misplaced, however, as the £90m-rated forward is happy at Spurs and only signed a new deal in July.

Mauricio Pochettino isn’t going to sell such a key player in the squad. Nothing to see here.
