|

Manchester City will make it a five-way fight for Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and us have all reportedly been watching the 18-year-old, but the Catalan publication reports that City have also entered the race for the centre-back.

Pep Guardiola is said to be concerned about the poor form of John Stones and is worried about Nicolas Otamendi returning from the World Cup needing an extended period of rest.

We are believed to be keen on de LigtĀ linking up with his former teammate Davinson Sanchez once again. The pair were centre-back partners as Ajax made it to the Europa League final last year.

The Dutch international has already been capped five times at senior level by the Netherlands and has 60 appearances for his club despite not even turning 19 yet.

Mauricio Pochettino is likely considering the defender as a possible replacement for Toby Alderweireld who has been widely tipped to leave in the summer.
