The club are apparently weighing up an offer for West Brom`s Jonny Evans in the summer, according to the Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law.

Pochettino is apparently looking for an experienced centre back if Toby departs at the end of the season, but he doesn`t want the new recruit to get in the way of either Sanchez or Foyth.

With the Baggies likely to be relegated, their captain will be available for just £3m. We will not be the only interested party with both Arsenal and former club Manchester United also likely to have a say in matters.

The Northern Irish international is left footed, and would therefore likely be cover for Jan Vertonghen, leaving our young centre halves to compete for the other centre back spot in the starting eleven.

Poch is a big fan of Foyth`s, and it`s not surprising that he is keen to push his fellow countryman up the pecking order if Alderweireld is sold. A move for an experienced defender for cover would be the wise move, but is Evans the right choice?

  • For £3m it’s a bargain – there’s a profit to be had there down the line aswell even in a couple of years. Great cover – good defender and lots of experience. That’s even if Toby stays but there’s also the argument of upsetting the team’s inner spirit – too many cooks/etc. If Toby was to go, for £3m it’d be a no brainer and he has experience of trophies and medals with Utd background not to mention time with NI.

  • I’ll confess I haven’t seen him play much as I’d rather watch paint dry than Alan Pardews West Brom. Why did he leave United? If he was that good, he should still be there. If Smelling and Jones are better, I’d rather sign a 3 legged rocking horse!

  • I’ve mentioned this a few times, but Spurs will be linked with homegrown players this summer. We have Rose likely to move on and KWP being a 5th full back who probably needs a loan. That means to have our full quota of squad players next season, we need to buy homegrown. Must admit, didn’t think Jonny Evans would be on that list. He’s clearly a top centre half, but at 30 years old I’m not sure Poch would be interested.
