For those who have recovered from yesterdays errr chat…. Today we have ShropshireYid telling us his story..
1) What (or who) made you a Tottenham fan?
I was a young lad of 8 years old watching a football match on TV, when there was a great goal scored from a freekick, Top Corner from Gazza and I watched spurs ever since. Safe to say my parents, Dad a Wolves fan and mum a Liverpool fan are now Spurs mad!!
2) What have been your best and worst moments as a fan?
My worst moment as a spurs fan, which spans only 17 years, is probably losing the Carling Cup final to Blackburn or failing to make the champions league against West Ham, though I was also gutted when Sheringham left for Utd!
Best moment is probably the first time I went to the Lane and if I’m honest, I cant remember who the game was against or what the year was, all I remember is standing at the bottom of the steps before going to my seat and I was buzzing!
3) Have you been impressed with the summer signings and who do you feel will have the greatest influence on the team?
I must credit the board and manager for the signings so far, really impressed with the age and quality of those purchased. Everyone is saying Modric will be excellent and I agree but I think Giovanni could steal some limelight, I bet by 31st August my answer will be different though!
4) What are your expectations for the new season?
European football for 09/10 is a must, hopefully through the league. Modric to be named PFA young player of the year as well!
5) Do you see anyone breaking through from the academy next season?
I do actually because Ramos has shown with O’Hara he isn’t scared to do it. I am going to place my money on Parrett or Pekhart
6) If you were manager/owner, would you be looking to steer the club any differently
Not off the pitch as I think DL is the best chairman in the PL, but on the pitch, I would like to see the young talent we invest in get more minutes in the CC or loaned out to Prem/Championship clubs. Players don’t improve playing non competitive football!
7) Who is your Mr Tottenham?
Dave Mackay passed the mantle onto Gary Mabbutt and he will pass it to Ledley King in the future.
8) If you could choose any three players from Tottenham’s past for today’s team who would they be and why?
Jennings – Because It is a weak area for us (though Gomes could shut me up there)
Ginola – Most entertaining Player at the lane in years
Dave Mackay – Not even Explaining that one!
