Tottenham ‘set to swoop’ for Portuguese international, Levy ‘may sanction a bid’

|

According to The Sun, Tottenham are ‘set to swoop’ for Andre Gomes, as Daniel Levy ‘may sanction a bid for the Portuguese international. He’s been in fine form on loan at Everton and could be open to leaving parent club Barcelona on a permanent deal next summer.

Everton appear to be in the driving seat to procure his signature as the midfielder has shone on loan at Goodison Park this season. There is no buying option attached to his contract, however, which opens to door to other clubs hijacking the deal.

Gomes may have to leave Barcelona in pursuit of first-team football and Tottenham are hoping to capitalise on the situation. The 25-year-old has found his feet in the Premier League, making eight appearances for the Toffees, and could be a replacement for the likes of Mousa Dembele.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be in the market for a central midfielder in one of the next two transfer windows and Gomes could be a smart acquisition. The former Valencia man is composed in possession and works hard off the ball to maintain control in the middle of the park.

He’s shone at Everton and could impress with Tottenham too.
